Victoria Hegner

Victoria Hegner is a cultural anthropologist, working at the University of Göttingen. Her research interests include new religious movement, urbanity and gender. She received her PhD from Humboldt-University in Berlin. In a comparative perspective her thesis focused on the current Russian Jewish migration to Berlin vs. Chicago and how urban culture inscribes itself into the migrant`s self understanding of being Jewish. She is now undertaking a project on Neopagan Witchcraft as it is practiced in urban context of Berlin, the city that supposedly has “the highest concentration of witches in all of Central Europe.”
